WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR “STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI”
If a recent report is to be believed, then Star Wars fans can expect the return of Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) to a galaxy far, far away in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
According to a video from YouTube journalist Mike Zeroh, the upcoming “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” attraction at Disney theme parks will be partially influenced by locations seen in “The Last Jedi.” According to Zeroh,
“We recently learned that ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ will be replicating the Force tree that we see in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ that hold the old Jedi books… when [tourists] go inside of this tree, they will hear the voices of Yoda and Anakin Skywalker as Force Ghosts.”
Zeroh goes on to speculate that this news hints at possible roles for both Anakin Skywalker and Yoda in “The Last Jedi.” Zeroh also references previous rumors of Hayden Christensen being spotted at Pinewood Studios in June to justify this theory.
This is not the first time Anakin Skywalker has been rumored to appear in Episode 8. Back in September 2015, prior to the release of “The Force Awakens,” Making Star Wars reported a rumor that Hayden Christensen was being trained for a “‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ appearance of some sort.”
Since that report, more information and leaks have been revealed that suggest Christensen’s return to the Star Wars universe might be true, most notably a rare appearance at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Orlando.
Disney has yet to officially confirm the involvement of Christensen at this time. However, the closer we get to “The Last Jedi,” the more likely it is looking that Anakin Skywalker will indeed be returning to the big screen.
