Despite the fact that Hugh Jackman has stated repeatedly that this year’s Logan will be his last outing as the fan-favorite X-Man Wolverine, fans can’t seem to stop speculating as to whether or not Logan will be appearing in the eventual Deadpool 2. And who could blame them? Wolverine has been an incredibly influential character in the world of comic book movies, and it’s difficult to let go of that solid foundation of we’ve had in the universe for over fifteen years at this point.
It certainly doesn’t help that Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are besties, and as such, whenever the pair end up in an Instagram photo together, it inevitably sparks up conversations once more. But what is the real possibility of Logan appearing in Deadpool 2? If not there, would it ever be possible for them to join forces down the line?
Speaking with The Playlist, Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick clarified that, first of all, no, there is no Wolverine in Deadpool 2.
“I don’t think any of us operated under the assumption that it would be even possible to do a Deadpool/Wolverine thing, so we just haven’t planned for it, it’s still not in the plan, but if it were to happen, it would require a hard look at the overall architecture of our storylines.”
Okay, so what about down the line? Jackman says he’s done with the character, but what are the chances of it happening down the line?
“I think the tone will absolutely work if we put those two together. Deadpool always needs a straight man, a foil, and Wolverine would be as good a foil as Colossus, just more cantankerous.”
So don’t give up hopes, folks! It can happen! You just have to believe! Would you like to see Wolverine and Deadpool team up in a future movie? Let us know your thoughts down below!
